Banksy

The film that we are watching at the moment is called Banksy exit through the gift shop. This film/documentry is about street art and how it was created and how it has formed into what it stands for today. There are many artist in this film like, Shepard Fairy, Space Invader, Mr Brainwash, Banksy and many more. This film was made for the artist to give the public a better view on what street art is and what it stands for. I really like the way how all the artist have created their own unique style onto well known images like Space Invader created space invaders using a tyle as a baseplate and rubix cube pieces to create the effect of the image. Shepard Fairy uses a classic image of a wrestlers from the late 1900 hundreds he altered this image using photoshop to add the shadows into it and make it stand out more with the sticker OBEY on the bottom.

Banksy uses his own complete style which nobody had seen before he was around he influenced street art to the public with his insane art sculptures and art images. Two pieces of his work in the film stand out to me the most and they are the Phone Booth sculpture life-size sculpture of a Guantanamo Bay inmate at Disneyland. This life-size sculpture took an hour and a half to be noticed by the disneyland security and by then Banksy was long gone and nobody suspected it was him. This film is really inspiring to me and the public that are into street art.

Mr.Brainwash In my eyes is a sell out he was treated well by everybody he knew like Banksy. Shepard Fairy, Space Invader and many more. He skipped the whole being an artist studying and practicing his skills for years he just jumped to making a museum with all of his work and have an exhibition to get noticed he also asked Banksy and Shepard Fairy to advertise his work for him he was only looking for hype and reputation instead of skill and respect by other street artist.

3 different types of capture

Photography - Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a radiation-sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. Photography uses foremost radiation in the UV, visible and near-IR spectrum. For common purposes the term light is used instead of radiation. Light reflected or emitted from objects form a real image on a light sensitive area (film or plate) or a FPA pixel array sensor by means of a pin hole or lens in a device known as a camera during a timed exposure. The result on film or plate is a latent image, subsequently developed into a visual image (negative or diapositive).

Video -
The term video ("video" meaning "I see", from the Latin verb "videre") commonly refers to several storage formats for moving pictures: digital video formats, including Blu-ray Disc, DVD, QuickTime, and MPEG-4; and analog videotapes, including VHS and Betamax. Video can be recorded and transmitted in various physical media: in magnetic tape when recorded as PAL or NTSC electric signals by video cameras, or in MPEG-4 or DV digital media when recorded by digital cameras.
Quality of video essentially depends on the capturing method and storage used. Digital television (DTV) is a relatively recent format with higher quality than earlier television formats and has become a standard for television video.

Drawing - Drawing is a visual art that makes use of any number of drawing instruments to mark a two-dimensional medium. Common instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax color pencils, crayons, charcoals, chalk, pastels, markers, stylus, or various metals like silverpoint. An artist who practices or works in drawing may be referred to as a draftsman or draughtsman.
A small amount of material is released onto the two dimensional medium which leaves a visible mark—the process is similar to that of painting. The most common support for drawing is paper, although other materials such as cardboard, plastic, leather, canvs and board, may be used. Temporary drawings may be made on a blackboard or whiteboard, or indeed almost anything. The medium has also become popular as a means of public expression via graffiti art, because of the easy availability of permanent markers.

As you can see from the image on the right i am using the warp tool to create an image. There is many different types of warps like, fish eye, arc, arc lower, arc higher and so on. The warp tool is a very good tool to learn to use to create a abstract photo out of random words.

I really like this effect in photos gives an abstract feeling to it and it also makes you look twice at the image once to look at it and the other time to concentrate on the words that have been written.

As You can see from the image on my left i have made my own path and added a little script saying "Graffiti can cause violence or happiness its up to you!" i like how i have now created my own warp it makes the image feel and look so much better becuase its got a sense of freedom and passion that you don't get with preset warps.

Poster Of Graffiti

To the right is the collections of photos i have used to create my poster i used photoshop to edit and finish the final image. This image consist of a police car and loads of graffiti. My first idea was to tag the car wiith just one graffiti tag and leave in a urban city under a bridge. Once i done the one tag it did not look right so i added another one still didnt look right so i added a couple more to make all the police car tagged.

I used different tools in photoshop and many layers such as the rubber tool to edit the layers on top of one another. Made a new layer as hue/saturation and many others. I made this poster on graffiti because of my love and passion for graffiti and art. I wanted to give the car an abstract and strange feeling that when people saw it they would go wow!

I thought of having the background of suburds with the car just left there, or another idea was in the middle of town with people just walking past like its nothing new to them. Instead i chose to do the police car on top of the statue of liberty this is many things. Funny, abstract, random and others. I gave this image this effect because it's strange and different you wouldn't normally see a police car which has been graffitied on been left on top of the statue of liberty. It makes people look and wonder how? when? what? it gives many expressions the one i like the most is humour and confusion. Without this effect the image wouldn't be what it is or give the same emotional expressions or a cool looking effect.

Graffiti started way back when cavemen where around doing drawings of what they have done in there life some people would call this art but others would call it art the exactly same thing as graffiti. After that evolution evolved and people started adding their own styles, colours, drawings to graffiti. This gave graffiti the feeling and effect it has on people today without this graffiti would be another boring and simple art wiith no passion, soul or feeling in it.

To the left is my mind map of what capture is and describing the key points of capture. We have got drawings, photography, video, markings and many more.

I have chosen Drawings, Photography and written words. I chose these three main subjects because one i like drawing two video is helpful to get the things you cant draw and three written words are good because you can described what you see, whats the surroundings, what sounds you can hear and you can get in a lot more detail about art then some drawings.

Drawings - I chose drawings because you can get a lot of detail into drawings and you can also add your own twist onto other peoples art work. Drawings started way back with the cavemen they drew things to show other cavemen what they have done and explain the storys that they have told one another. Then drawings evolved into art and people starting getting their own style, graffiti, abstract, comic and others.

Photography - Photos show a thousands words so they say. The reason i chose photography was because as well as drawing the art with my own twist i want the first un-edited version of the art so it shows the difference between my style and their style. Photography has evolved over many years from first just taking random pictures to show other people what they have seen to now being able to do different photoshoots like, graffiti, model shoots, game conventions and many other subjects.

Written Words - I also chose written words as well as photography and drawings because its good to have words describing the surroundings, the sceneray, the sounds and the whole place as well as seeing photos of the art. Words can sometimes be better than photos or drawings because you can get into a lot more detail about the colour and really describe what you see.
